Does your Child need to be Phonics Hooked?

Perhaps you have a child that was phonics hooked early on and entered school with an advanced level of reading?   These children will most likely read and spell more easily because a foundation was laid and built upon before the age of 5 or 6 in contrast to many school students who struggle all through school because they did not receive the extra help.  It is evident since many children graduate from high school and enter college without ever learning to read and spell properly.

Building Self Esteem: Phonics Hooked

In my case, I have first hand knowledge of a 11 year-old boy named Lance who wasn’t given the chance to be phonics hooked.  He still struggles with reading today.   He was born premature and has been diagnosed with ADHD.  He failed kindergarten so that put him behind from the start of school.  He doesn’t like school, and it can be a challenge to get him to concentrate on his homework.  To make matters worse, his family life has suffered due in part to one of his parents using drugs and getting in trouble with the law.

Today, things are much better.  He lives in a stable home now,and his Mom is on the road to recovery.  However, he still struggles with reading and suffers with being bullied at school.  He is small in stature and size which contributes to the bullying.

But just think how this child’s life could have been impacted if he had been allowed to apply the principals of quick learning that “HOP” provides.  How many obstacles that he has endured would not even happened to this bright-blue eyed child that is intelligent and full of wonder?  He loves learning…he just wasn’t worked with like he should have been.  Simply put, when any child in school regardless of age cannot read well, it affects their whole life.

On a positive note, many parents claim great results from their children being phonics hooked and in a short amount of time. Matter of fact, “Hooked on Phonics” claims their method only takes 20 minutes a day. So the guaranteed 30 day trial should be enough time to be able to tell if the program is working for your child or not.

One author of books for children wrote his son reads 3 grades above his own.  Another parent stated in a review that the product is visually appealing to young kids. And children ask to use HOP’s program of learning because it is fun. They see it as entertainment and not boring school work.

One parent reported that it is extremely easy but the lessons take longer than the outline suggests. According to the written reviews what it boils down to is every child is different. Some learn faster than others so it really depends on the child.

One good thing about the program while using a computer CD or DVD is the child can work on his or her own. However, when using the workbooks children need one-on-one help which is a great way to spend quality time with your child by the way.

For over 20 years, HOP has been used by over 2 million families and 1000s of schools so children can learn to read properly, so that statement alone speaks for itself.

But stories like this one about Lance and other struggles many children face certainly make parents look for help.  Let’s face it, it is never too soon in a child’s life to teach early reading whatever method you chose.  There are even phonics for toddlers software available but each parent will need to make their own personal decision on when exactly to start.

Perhaps you know a child that could greatly benefit from being ‘phonics hooked‘.
